Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu will star alongside Varun Dhawan in the Indian installment of the Citadel universe. The Indian Original series is part of the Citadel global-event series from Prime Video and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, and will be available to Prime members in over 240 countries and territories. The as-yet-untitled show is being produced and directed by creator duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK under their banner D2R Films. It's written by Sita R. Menon, along with Raj & DK.
Samantha previously worked with Raj & DK on Season 2 of The Family Man, an Amazon Original series. "Once we had the script down on paper, Sam was an obvious choice for this character. We couldn’t be happier to have her on board,” said the creator duo.
Varun Dhawan’s streaming debut
As for Samantha, she decided to take up this project in a heartbeat. “After working with this team on The Family Man, it is homecoming for me,” she said. “The Citadel universe, the interconnected storylines between the productions across the globe, and most importantly, the script of the Indian installment really excited me. I am thrilled to be a part of this brilliant universe, conceptualised by the Russo Brothers. I am also looking forward to working with Varun for the first time. He is full of life and cheer when you’re around him.” The Indian installment of Citadel marks Varun Dhawan’s streaming debut.
Richard Madden (Bodyguard) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico) will star in the first-to-launch series, along with David Weil (Hunters) and Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games). Additional local language productions are also in the works, including an Italian Original starring Matilda De Angelis (The Undoing).
Production for the Indian installment of Citadel is already underway at Mumbai. After Mumbai, the unit will head to North India, followed by Serbia and South Africa.
Shooting across India and international locales

Raj and DK will also serve as executive producers, under their banner D2R Films. The series is produced by D2R Films and Amazon Studios, with AGBO’s Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, and David Weil (Hunters) overseeing production on the Indian Original and all series within the global Citadel universe. Josh Applebaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg serve as executive producers for Midnight Radio, on the untitled Indian Original and all series within the global Citadel universe.
