If you’re a millennial, you will definitely remember watching the Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle on your TV screen when you were younger. Well, Prime Video has some good news for you—the show is coming back to your screen with a brand new Indian reboot. And none other than popular actor and content creator Bhuvan Bam will anchor the show's hilarious commentary.
What you can expect from the reboot
Prime Video has unveiled a teaser to the Indian reboot of Takeshi’s Castle today. Retaining the fun-filled eccentricities of the original version, the popular 80s game show reboots 34 years later with commentary by Bhuvan Bam, who will revive his BB Ki Vines character Titu Mama. The eight-episode series will stream exclusively on Prime Video from 2 November.
What’s in the teaser?
The video begins with Titu Mama going about his day as a shoe salesman—or 'shoe stopper', as he hilariously calls it—when the Yakuza enter the store and abduct him. It is later revealed that Titu Mama owes the Yazuka, and the only way to repay the debt is by voicing the Hindi reboot of Takeshi’s Castle. The reboot retains the essence of the original show, where over 100 contestants run through several crazy challenges in the hopes of winning the lucrative prize money of 1 million yen. With Titu Mama adding his unique Indian perspective to the show, the series promises bucket loads of entertainment for viewers.
