5 ways Amazon India is focusing on its delivery associates’ wellbeing this festive season

At Amazon India, keeping delivery associates motivated, healthy, and supported is a top priority, especially during the festive season rush. This year, Amazon has unveiled a series of innovative programs aimed at enhancing the well-being and overall experience of its delivery workforce across the country. From entertaining cricket-themed competitions to providing dedicated rest areas and preventive healthcare services, these initiatives showcase Amazon's commitment to creating a positive and empowering environment for its essential delivery partners.

Here are some of the special initiatives for delivery associates this festive season and beyond:

Cricket brings people together and helps reduce stress. Amazon Flex now brings that excitement to the delivery associates through the Delivery Premier League (DPL), a cricket-themed engagement program. The DPL encourages the Flex partners to deliver shipments and score runs for deliveries made per hour. This drives engagement during the month-long festive period in this friendly competition across cities and categories, turning daily deliveries into a thrilling game. Top performers are rewarded with exciting rewards for their efforts.

Festivals are all about connection and celebration, and the Mulakaat campaign embodies that spirit for delivery service partners and delivery stations. Last year, leaders visited thousands of stations to conduct engagement activities during the festive period. This helps leadership to remain close to the frontline associates. This year, Mulakaat is being expanded with pre-festive readiness activities as well as exciting contests and rewards. Delivery associates can participate in fun trivia contests and win vouchers, while station teams compete in creative activities, like paper plane contests and dumb charades. Stations and associates will be recognised across various areas, such as safety compliance and delivery metrics, with rewards that include cash prizes, gift cards, and trophies.

Understanding the importance of rest for delivery associates, Amazon has launched Project Ashray, in partnership with the Udayasa Foundation. The programme aims to ensure there are dedicated rest spots for delivery associates across the ecosystem at strategic locations across major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with essential amenities, such as shaded seating, drinking water, mobile charging stations, restrooms, and first aid kits. Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., these centres provide a safe and comfortable environment where delivery associates can take a break and recharge during their shifts. Amazon has launched three such centres in Bengaluru and Gurugram this year.

A six-month health and wellness campaign focuses on preventive care. It offers free medical check-ups and health awareness programmes to over 50,000 delivery associates and 350+ delivery partners. Over 50 medical camps will be held at various logistics stations across zones. These camps will provide associates with early detection services for health issues and promote awareness about available insurance benefits, including maternity support. The camps in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune have already benefited over 1,000 associates.

A month-long art camp is organised each year for Amazon’s delivery associates; the initiative promotes solidarity, camaraderie, and recognition of the workforce’s efforts during the busy Diwali season. The camp kicks off with activities such as a Hazard Hunt competition, where site teams identify and resolve hazards: water spills, extra packaging material on the floor, and DA sorting at yard to name a few. This is followed by site decoration, talent show, cake-cutting, and events like Beat of the Dhol and Let’s Rock.
