Amazon India has announced a significant expansion of its Ashray network to 100 centres across the country by 2025, reinforcing its commitment to delivery associate wellbeing. Ten of these centres will be launched in Delhi NCR today. These dedicated rest stops offer essential amenities including air-conditioned seating, clean drinking water, electrolytes, mobile charging points, washrooms, first-aid kits, and refreshments to delivery associates from across the ecommerce and logistics ecosystem.

The recognition highlights Amazon's commitment to career growth, upskilling opportunities, and internal mobility—key factors in LinkedIn's evaluation of India's most sought-after places to work.

As an industry-first initiative Ashray centres operate year-round (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) in high foot-fall areas such as petrol pumps and commercial rental spaces. Each centre can accommodate up to 15 people at a time and allows them free access for up to 30 minutes per visit along with convenient parking spaces. Additionally, the Ashray centre locations are added to Google Maps for easy access by delivery associates.

Prioritising delivery associate wellbeing

“The health, wellbeing and comfort of delivery associates is our top priority. Ashray centres provide air-conditioned rest areas with essential amenities like clean drinking water, first aid kits, and charging points. These facilities help delivery associates stay comfortable and safe during their busy schedules,” says Abhinav Singh, VP Operations, India & Australia at Amazon.

Opening these facilities to all delivery associates across ecommerce and logistics ecosystem, supports the entire logistics community and reflects our commitment to raising industry standards. We are encouraged by the response we have seen so far and are committed to expanding this initiative to 100 such centres across India.

Amazon Fresh now delivers to more tier-2 and tier-3 cities, including Gorakhpur, Chittoor, Ambala, and Vijayawada. Our sellers source fruits and vegetables from more than 11,000 farmers nationwide.

Since its inception, Ashray centres have recorded thousands of visits, demonstrating the growing demand and need for this initiative for the last mile community. The first Ashray centre was launched in Gurugram in August 2024, with two new centres following close on its heels in Bengaluru and Mumbai. The expansion is expected to further increase accessibility for delivery associates, ensuring they have reliable spaces to rest and recharge while fulfilling customer orders.
