Amazon India announced the launch of Amazon Flex, an innovative opportunity for individuals to be their own boss, create their own schedule and earn INR 120 to 140 per hour delivering packages on behalf of Amazon. The program which works through an app will create tens of thousands of part time opportunities for individuals to further their earning potential by delivering Amazon packages during their spare time.
Meet 19-year-old student Anand Rao Bohite, who says he enrolled for this program because of his love for cricket. "I play cricket at the district level and need some extra money so I can pay for the coaching. The Flex programme gives me this extra money. I earn at least INR 2400 per week and the flexibility allows me to pursue my passion." If Anand could pursue his passion of cricket with Amazon Flex, for 28-year-old Praveen Uikey the extra income helps him nurture his dreams of acting. "I like to do plays and this extra money will only help me invest in a better wardrobe for my plays. Also with this money I can now watch good dramas and get inspired."
Amazon Flex works in concert with the advanced logistics systems and technology that Amazon has been building. Interested delivery partners with two-wheelers can sign up, choose their own schedule, and deliver packages – all using the Amazon Flex app. Every delivery partner goes through a comprehensive background verification process and hands on training before they begin delivering packages. All Amazon Flex participants are also covered under a Group Accident policy while making deliveries for Amazon. Interested individuals can visit https://flex.amazon.in for more details.
Amazon Flex was first launched in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi in June 2019. Owing to the success and positive response, the program which began with seven cities in just a span of 3 months in 2019 has now scaled to 65 cities in the country. The expansion has created tens of thousands of part-time opportunities for individuals in metros and non-metro cities such as Raipur, Hubli, Gwalior and Nashik among others.
“We are proud to create opportunities for tens of thousands of individuals to further their earning potential with a flexible work option to be their own boss, create their own schedule and take advantage of Amazon technology to deliver packages,” explained Akhil Saxena Vice President – Asia Customer Fulfilment, Amazon. “While we continue to scale our existing delivery capabilities across the country, Amazon Flex will enable Amazon to continue growing our capacity to serve more customers and speed up deliveries."
Amazon Flex partners enjoy the part time opportunity to earn more, especially at this time when the country is economically recovering from the impact of the nationwide lockdown.
On the response to the program, Prakash Rochlani, Director, Last Mile Transportation, Amazon India, said, "Over the last one year we have received an overwhelming response for the Amazon Flex program from thousands of individuals who have benefited by delivering to Amazon customers. Amazon Flex partners enjoy the part time opportunity to earn more, especially at this time when the country is economically recovering from the impact of the nationwide lockdown. Their safety remains our top priority, and we are taking the right precautions, and have implemented a series of preventative health measures. As we continue to scale and further grow the program to more than 65 cities across the country, Amazon Flex will add tremendous value in serving our customers so they can stay home and practice social distancing." said
Amazon is committed to the health and safety of its associates, partners, employees, and customers and has implemented several preventive measures close to 100 significant process changes in their fulfilment network for the safety of its people during this pandemic. These include mandatory face covering, increased frequency and intensity of cleaning at all sites including regular sanitization of frequently touched areas, thermal screening of every Flex partner, and awareness-building among associates including Amazon Flex partners on safety requirements around hand-washing and hand sanitization. In the last three months, the company has leveraged technology to completely shift the on boarding process to a virtual experience, has introduced digitized training for Flex partners and has implemented no touch check-in for delivery associates in the buildings.
