Amazon Pay has partnered with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to enable commuters to book and generate digital QR tickets online. This partnership eliminates the need for a physical token that takes an average of 15 minutes to generate and can often be misplaced during commute. The goal is to provide commuters with a digital solution that helps bring down the need for hard cash and small change, ultimately reducing long token queues.

A comprehensive Kearney-Amazon Pay study shows customers and merchants choose online payments for increased convenience, greater trust, improved safety, and their transaction tracking abilities.

More than 7 million commuters use the Delhi metro every day. Currently around 40% of DMRC commuters use tokens for their travel, while the remaining 60% use smart cards.

We are thrilled to introduce Metro QR ticketing on Amazon Pay, which will significantly transform the daily commute for millions of metro users. This innovative solution offers quick, contactless transactions and eliminates the need for tokens and exact change, providing a seamless and convenient experience.
