Today, more than 65% of customer orders on Amazon.in come from India’s tier-II and III markets. “We continue to innovate on behalf of our customers with unique first for India benefits, all of which make the Prime subscription more valuable for customers,” he adds.
Amazon’s investments in the 3Vs – voice, video and vernacular – is likely to see the next 200-300 million customers benefit from ecommerce in India’s tier 2/3 cities. It’s three key learnings from these markets in recent years have been customer comfort in shopping in regional languages, customer preference for voice over typed responses, and for hearing product narratives over reading them online.
