It’s that time of year again when online shoppers and sellers alike get all charged up for Prime Day, the two-day annual shopping festival. Despite the COVID crisis this year, Prime Day 2020 promises to be special with big brands, small businesses and entrepreneurs all ready to offer special deals at this mega shopping event.

Bangalore’s Robin, the small business owner behind the tech products brand, Hoteon, has also been preparing for the current work-from-home requirements of shoppers. “We are bringing a selection of laptop desks, table lamps and high quality masks for Prime Day 2020.” Thanks to Amazon’s new local shops programme, small businesses like Bangalore’s NS Cycle Store is looking forward to the mega event too. “Due to the COVID situation we are unable to deliver to all regions, but with this local shop programme, we can select specific pin codes for delivery. It will helps us capture local customers and offer them a faster delivery experience.”
Pune's Anil Mhaske of DCC Infotech is also optimistic. He says, "We are very excited to be part of Prime day. Inventory planning & promotions are our priority so that we can serve the customers in best possible way. The business is growing really fast on Amazon post COVID, we were able to achieve one month sales in one week post lockdown when we started out business again on Amazon."
Another small business owner, New Delhi’s Kandy Vaid offers specialty food tools and ingredients to the country’s growing community of bakers under the brand CCDS. This Prime Day, Kandy hopes to get her goodies out to customers across India with the help of Amazon. Saurabh Mehta, the founder of the eco-friendly brand, Bioq, also hopes to reach customers in all corners of India this Prime Day. According to him, “Eco-friendly products will soon cease to be an option. They will be a necessity. It’s time to make the switch.” Working in a similar space, Hiran Lal and Vineeth Viswanathan from Thrissur, Kerala, are working to bring solar light products to shoppers with their home grown brand, Hardoll.
